In need of a laugh? Aren't we all.... WELL, you're in luck, because this Saturday, in addition to all things
Fringe, an outstanding stand-up show is coming to
The BLOCK Off Biltmore.
Krish Mohan and David Coulter are hitting up the BLOCK with their
show,
Southern Insecurities Comedy Tour. The show starts at 8 PM.
Tickets are available online for $10, $12 at the door. The best part? A portion of the proceeds will benefit the ACLU. You have no reason to not spend your money here (if you can)!
Krish Mohan has an extensive comedy background: stand-up, improv, and a sketch comedy group based in Pittsburgh. If you want to get acquainted with his work before the show, check out his podcast, lovingly dubbed "
Fork Full of Noodles", on which he discusses personal and public politics of every topic--the Alt Right Movement, science and religion, climate change, vegetarianism, and so, so much more. Krish also conducts "
Taboo Table Talks", where he speaks with a guest, from journalists to comedians to activists, about topics YOU should be discussing at your dinner table. If you think his multiple podcasts keep him busy, YOU'RE WRONG. He also has a
newsletter. If you don't like comedy, you should head to the show just to see if you can squeeze in a question about how he maintains such a busy schedule.
Don't worry,
David Coulter has his own
podcast that he co-hosts with fellow comedian
Kat. He's currently based in DC, where, in addition to his stand-up, he is co-founder of
Barenaked Comedy, a burlesque/comedy mash-up that raises money for the ACLU. These guys aren't just here to make jokes, they are here to make you think, and they're backing it up by donating to the causes in which they believe.
Also, if you haven't been to The BLOCK, their cocktails rules, and they have kombucha in case you want to keep things PG. Drink proceeds benefit the YMI Cultural Center!
