The studios and galleries in the
River Arts District are pretty much always open to curious art fans wanting to meet art makers, see where and how they work, and maybe even leave with a piece or two.
There are painters, ceramicists, sculptors, fiber artists, and photographers in super interesting spaces in historic buildings scattered along the French Broad River in West Asheville and twice a year they come together to really pull out all the stops for the
Studio Strolls.
Saturday and Sunday, November 10 - 11, hundreds of gallery and studio doors will be open from 10am - 5pm with free parking and trolley service, workshops and events. Everyone is also encouraged to bring cans of non-perishable food to support
MANNA Food Bank.
Wedge Studios, smack dab the heart of the River Arts District, held a preview night on Thursday the 8th for a more intimate look into the spaces that exist in the amazing building that was originally home to farmer co-ops, industrial warehouses, and then
AFRAM – the first African American owned and operated business of its kind in the state of North Carolina and the country.
There are 3 floors and 40+ artists spaces to visit in this building alone along with of course the original
Wedge Brewery, award-winning restaurant
The Bull and Beggar, and
District Wine Bar so you can have fabulous food and drink while getting your art on. A win-win situation if you ask me.
