Over $1700 in cash, prizes, and the Southeast Crown are at all stake on Saturday at the
Asheville Music Hall for the biggest dance battle in North Carolina –
SEBC (Southestern B-boy Championships), in its 9th year.
Hosted by
DJ Brett Rock along with
B-Boy Frantic of the NYC-based enetertainment group
Dynamic Rockers Crew, SEBC is more than just a steet dance competition. It is a family-friendly day full of not only incredible dance battles and music from an all-star cast of dancers and DJs, but also dancing for all ages and skill sets and educational workshops.
Event producers aim for an experience that "creates awareness and unity through proactive participation within the local community as well as fostering the peaceful and positive principles that have laid the foundation for modern street dance that is today, a global community."
The competition will wind down and a winner will be chosen around 10pm, but that's when
the after-party begins (21+) as two of Asheviille's veteran DJs –
Brett Rock +
DJ Bowie – will be "rocking the decks" with funk, house, breaks, bass + trap until 2am.
